Bringing Home the Gold: Marauders surge past rivals to win HHC team title
NEW PALESTINE The opportunity was there.
The unbeaten Mt. Vernon boys swimming team knew it. Marauders head coach Brad Grieshop calculated its probability multiple times.
The Mt. Vernon seniors anticipated it a goal four-plus years in the making.
All the Marauders needed to do was seize it, and on Saturday as they stood atop the winner’s podium together at New Palestine High School, they collectively made history.

Prep Roundup: Dragons swim team sweeps senior night

The New Palestine swim teams picked up a pair of wins in the pool Thursday on Senior Night.
The Dragons boys team pushed past New Castle, 88-84, and defeated Eastern Hancock, 107-65.
The girls team beat New Castle, 96-81, and the Royals by a count of 125-26.
Both Dragons and Royals had individual winners in the boys competition.
Eastern Hancock’s Matthew McDaniel won the 200-yard IM (2:15.95) and 500 freestyle (5:23.32).
New Palestine’s Jack Schwartz won the 50 freestyle (23.97) and 100 butterfly (1:01.40). Austin Lines won the 1-meter diving competition (196.65). ....
