Short-handed Cougars just miss on third straight HHC crown
12/18/20 11:47 PM
NEW PALESTINE Following Friday’s result, the last eight Hoosier Heritage Conference Girls Swimming and Diving Championships have been divided evenly between Greenfield-Central and Pendleton Heights.
It was the Arabians turn in a close contest at the New Palestine Natatorium Friday, edging the Cougars by a mere 16 points, 393-377.
The teams were deadlocked, 251-251, after eight events, but the Arabians’ depth proved to be the difference in halting the Cougars from winning their third straight crown.

Opportunity Knocks: Marauders, Cougars swimming split during HHC preview dual
12/14/20 11:38 PM
FORTVILLE Neither side was at full strength Monday night, but regardless of being shorthanded due to COVID-19 quarantines, the Mt. Vernon Marauders and the Greenfield-Central Cougars refused to let up.
Not with the Hoosier Heritage Conference swimming and diving championships only days away at New Palestine, beginning Thursday for the girls and Saturday for the boys.
Among those focused on gaining momentum prior to this week’s HHC opportunity was Mt. Vernon senior Aiden Tierney, who claimed four first-place finishes for the host Marauders, including a pair of relay wins.
