The Fayetteville Observer Years ago, I covered the Linden Town Council and would drive the more than 20 miles from Fayetteville for the 8 p.m. council meetings. It was pleasant enough duty. But I was invariably sleepy on the way back. Looking back it’s a miracle I did not wreck. Sometimes, I was the only nonofficial person at the meeting and was always treated well. I found nothing different from Linden than you might see in any little town in southeastern North Carolina.
