Credits: Cathy Goetz March 3, 2021 at 1:36 PM BELMAR, NJ The Belmar Council has taken another step to ensure that residents continue to receive emergency medical services when the Belmar First Aid Squad closes its doors in less than a month. The governing body introduced an ordinance on March 2 to establish a Division of Emergency Services within the Department of Public Safety, under the supervision of Police Chief Tina Scott. A public hearing and final vote on the measure is scheduled for March 16 two weeks before the 93-year-old squad, which serves both Belmar and Lake Como, ceases operations on March 31. ....

Buccafusco, an outspoken critic of the current GOP-led administration, was nominated by the Belmar Democratic Committee to run on that party’s primary ticket.
