The Bedford County Heroes Fund 1:52 am A new Organization in Bedford County is working to make a difference in the lives of local First Responders. The organization is called the Bedford County Heroes Fund and it’s dedicated to helping those who help us. Bedford County Resident Michael Whelan has worked in the Law Enforcement field for almost a decade, so he understands how essential First Responders are to a community. Bedford County Heroes Fund Organizer Michael Whelan saying: “These are firefighters going into burning houses to save lives. These are EMS crews that are going into houses that have COVID patients, that have serious aid that they need to put their lives on the line for, every day.”

CR parents proposing athletic facility upgrades

Some parents and boosters in the Chestnut Ridge School District are asking school officials to consider upgrading the district’s athletic facilities. A group representing the Chestnut Ridge Touchdown Club football booster club briefly spoke to the district school board at its meeting Tuesday night about their hopes for larger weight room, as well as new facilities and turf for the football field. “We’re behind the times,” said Jamie Ickes, who spoke on behalf of the group. Ickes said the group’s top priority is a bigger weight room for student athletes, saying the current room is not large enough to accommodate more than about a dozen students at a time.
