Members of the White Earth Nation Tribal Council shared their vision for the return of the White Earth Forest with the Becker County Board of Commissioners Tuesday. The Commissioners then shared their own different view. However both sides say they are willing to keep the dialog going.
DETROIT LAKES I have come to realize I am wasting my time talking to (Becker County commissioners) Nelson, Jepson and Meyer. They have an agenda, Nelson wants power back, Jepson is fulfilling her promise to the union employees, and Meyer is a puppet.
The two will be on the Nov. 8 general election ballot, since longtime incumbent Commissioner Larry Knutson didn’t file for reelection this year. The big district basically covers the eastern half of Becker County.
The forum for Becker County Board and sheriff candidates was hosted by the Detroit Lakes Area League of Women Voters and held at the packed public meeting room at the police department.
