Created as a joint pilot program between
Kellogg’s Away from Home (the division of Kellogg that works with foodservice operators) and
Chowbotics (the now-DoorDash-owned startup that looks to make food more accessible with robots), these two new Kellogg’s Bowl Bots have recently been introduced on the aforementioned university campuses. Students can use a touchscreen interface (or the Chowbotics app) to create their own custom cereals by blending together cereal brands, milk and dairy options, and toppings such as fruits, nuts, seeds, and more 22 ingredients in all.
Finally, a robot that does something we want: Kellogg’s and Chowbotics are testing the Bowl Bot, a smart vending device that’s all about serving cereal right.
Two US college campuses are getting a cereal-mixing robot that prepares a breakfast-ready bowl. These breakfast-dispensing robots, created as a joint pilot between Kellogg s and Chowbotics, have been rolled out at Florida State University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. On the Kellogg s Bowl Bot, operated through a touchscreen interface or the Chowbotics app on a smartphone, a user can custom-create a breakfast bowl by blending the ingredients, including cereals, milk, fruits, and nuts of their choice.

Kellogg’s legal guardian of such cereal mascots as Tony the Tiger and Toucan Sam has partnered with DoorDash-owned Chowbotics to launch a new cereal-mixing robot at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Florida State University (via
Gizmodo). The Kellogg’s Bowl Bot offers a vending machine-type experience for one of the simplest breakfast foods, and charges anywhere from $2.99 to $6.50 for the privilege.
The Bowl Bot could be best thought of as an extension of Chowbotics’ earlier “Sally” fresh food and salad robot. You interact with it via a touchscreen to select through your dairy bases (milk or yogurt), combinations of cereals and granolas, and toppings like fresh fruit or cocoa nibs.
