Earlier this afternoon as people tried to head home from work early which was a good idea. When i walked out of my house this afternoon my neighbors car next door covered in ice. So, if you dont have a garage, you dont have an overhang to park under your car, too, will be covered in ice and of course you need to clean it off before you try and hit the roads. Shootings in the city, and hes warning this disturbing trend must be put in check before its too late. It was a weekend of gun violence. Sadly, no one believes it will be the last. In east new york, nine people were shot and wounded at a barbecue. In the bronx, 20yearold Christian Garcia was shot and killed and two others struck when a gunman opened fire in a childrens playground. Speaking on a radio show, commissioner bratton says its not just a new york problem. In many areas of the country, we are seeing a significant increase in crime after having experienced almost 20 years of steady decline. The nypds latest statistics show a 10 increase in murders through july 27th compared to the same period last year. Bratton says there are two main reasons. Some communities, unfortunately, people are feeling that the police really dont have enforcement powers, and thats the broken windows theory at work, that theyre feeling empowered to basically be more active in some of their behavior.
