welcome to a special hour of msnbc reports, attack on the capitol. we re less than a year away from that day that i will never forget. we don t know what that material was. there are people that are watching all of this happen, watching these protesters at the capitol. and they re cheering it on, they re saying go, go, go, keep going. you saw people aiming a fire extinguisher at police. it s obviously pretty contentious right now. that day haunting so many of us even today. tonight we ll explore the recent testimony or lack thereof given to the house select committee investigating the january 6th attack, who is being held accountable for their actions, and who is not. what repercussions former top aides and allies of the trump administration face for dodging subpoenas. and what steps are being taken to prevent these actions from ever taking place again. as three generals come forward in a piece published by the washington post, warning of, quote, lethal chaos inside

they also really took aim at his legal arguments that he somehow was protected by executive privilege because of the efforts of the former-president donald trump, and saying it just was not enough for him to be so uncooperative with the committee. and then, liz cheney who is of course the vice chair and a republican and a big critic of the former president talked specifically about how both bannon and president trump s actions played a direct role in what we saw here on january 6th. and and that gave an awful lot of insight into what the committee s thinking is at the base of their investigation as they move forward. after those opening statements, it was pretty cut and dry, anderson. the chairman called for a vote of the committee members. they offered up a roll call vote. all nine members voted in the affirmative. they reported the report out. it s now going to go to the full house of representatives. we re told that could happen as early as thursday. once the house votes

it s a shame that mr. bannon has put us in this position, but we won t take no for an answer. if other witnesses defy this committee, if they fail to cooperate, we will be back in this room. it appears mr. bannon had substantial advance knowledge of the plans for january 6, and likely had an important role in formulating those plans. there is no conceivably applicable privilege that could shield mr. bannon from testimony on all of the many other topics identified in this committee s subpoena. cheney very aggressive on two points. first, this one about what she thinks bannon could offer. here s exhibit a for her. all hell is going to break loose tomorrow. just understand this. all hell is going to break loose tomorrow. it s not going to happen like you think it s going to happen, okay? it s going to be quite extraordinarily different. and all i can say is strap in. the war room, a poposse, you ha made this happen, so strap in. cheney also dropped something that i hav
