Dogs of all breeds and sizes are available to get adopted. Everybody knows this. But what we just found out here at our radio show (we do a pet of the week) is that people are bringing dogs to the animal shelters because they are going back to the office and having a pet is now a lot of trouble. Or the kids are back to doing their after school activities and can t take care of the dog anymore. This is just beyond me. Did you think this pandemic wouldn t end? How do you just give up a family member because it is now inconvenient? The animal shelters are being over run and can t find homes for all of them. Please, look into that animal s eyes before you just dump them. ....

Dick Trickle was a NASCAR legend. He was one of the original short track champions that raced for years all over the country. As he got much older, some car owners realized he had major talent but it s a young man s sport so he never got the best, most competitive equipment. He fared ok in the cup series, no wins, but what he is best known for is he was an in- car camera car during a race and when there was a caution lap, he pulled out a cigarette, lit it, and smoked it live on the TV. Now mind you, he was still going over a 100 miles an hour even though it was under a caution. Ironically, NASCAR used to be sponsored by R.J.Reynolds Tobacco Co. but was banned from sponsoring sporting events. Cup cars are coming to Austin.can t wait. ....

Land in and around west of Austin and Waco has gone crazy with people relocating. There is an average of 40% more people buying in these areas from last year. And an even crazier note, people buying in West Texas has gone up 50%. Now, I lived in Odessa many years ago and it is not for everybody. Flat and dry and nothing to look at. But, there were usually no one around so it was very quiet. Not much to do either. Odessa is kinda different from some other West Texas towns but I have seen much of that part of the state and that is pretty much how it all is. From the Mexican border to Panhandle.and from San Angelo to El Paso.pretty much looks the same. When surveyed, people say the reason they are moving out of the cities is because of social unrest and worried their city is poorly managed (read defund the police/crime and homeless problems) ....

Not dead yet! It’s not just a quote from Monty Python it’s the word from the experts at Texas A&M. Our beautiful Live Oaks that look like they might not have survived the February freeze may still have life in them yet! As in, don’t do what I did, and call for the arborist to put the seemingly dead tree out of its misery. Thankfully, A&M put the word out to WAIT!
In our neighborhood, in a common area, it looks as though the HOA has marked a few dozen trees to be cut down and I certainly hope that the people in charge have seen the article. ....
