firing his gun. cheryl conner tells us this did not end well. reporter: it has been. neighbors are standing outside of their home which is blocked off by crime scene tape trying to figure out what s going on. we re getting some of those details. the baltimore spokesman said a family argument brought them to weldon place north. that was late this afternoon. the first officer started to struggle apparently with the man inside. he called out a signal 13. that means he needs backup. another officer saw the two fighting on the ground with a weapon nearby so he fired his handgun. there was a, what we believe a knife like object in the vicinity. the officer who was being attacked did summon the other officer to assist him. he fired and he died as a result of the injuries. reporter: he was transport to the hospital. he was pronounced dead late this afternoon. you can see officers are still on the scene. they re going inside that home trying to process this scene. again, we re i

delayed. queen anne county schools are delayed 09 minutes. worcester county schools are on a one-hour delay. dorchester, schools are opening two hours late. the fog has been most dense out to the east. julie wright has been showing us traffic pictures to the west and springfield and the fog is building there now as well so it is overspreading the region. we ll take a look at half d radar. we ll show you where the most dense fog is at this point. we ve seen the area grow and grow during the early-morning hours and continue to spread westward into the washington area. we ll take a look at hd radar. it is coming from points east where wave been used to the fog over the last couple of days. it has spread in baltimore county, howard county, prince george s county into northeast d.c. what is not being picked up here is fog that is not quite as dense but still pretty impressive looking when you look at it on the live shot that we ve shown you including from our tower cam. let
and a tornado warning posted by the national weather service including anne arundel county and the district of columbia and southern maryland. we had picked up on maryland s most powerful doppler radar with possible rotation with the storm passing through baltimore. not in the actual tornado warning county, but in the severe thunderstorm warning. and it is when you get rotation in the storms, you can get possible nasty weather. the purple circles, this actually indicates where there could possibly be some hail forming. what i want to do right now is zoom in closer and what we can do is watch the particular storms. we take what we have of a velocity scan. this is where we can see wind rotating wind pulling away or toward the radar. and since we don t see a sharp contrast of colors here. they would be green and rednecks to each other in the circle. that indicates where there is rotation i don t think there s major problem with that despite the fact there s hail forming through
