A Dean Ashton hat-trick sent the Blues to a 5-3 defeat in their final pre-season friendly against West Ham at Portman Road. Town, for whom Shumulikoski, Garvan and Lee scored, impressed in the first half, but were very much second best after the break.
Town carried on their winning form in Belfast with a 4-1 victory over Donegal Celtic. An own goal from David Munster put the Blues in front in the first half then after the break James Lafferty equalised, prior to Owen Garvan and Alan Quinn (2) completing the scoring.
