It a feat most harness racing drivers never achieve as Aaron Merriman won 9 of the 15 races at MGM Northfield Park Wednesday (Dec. 7). And it’s not the first he has done it. Merriman started out winning the first three races on the program with Domovoy (Triumphant Caviar, 1:56.4, $2.40), Kneedeep N Custard (Custard
When Jenny Lens took her camera into the heart and soul of the Los Angeles punk scene, she felt like she was riding on a comet. During that time, her photographs appeared everywhere, among which were iconic shots of The Ramones, the Clash, Blondie, the Germs and the Pistols. She talks about those times with PKM's Sharon M. Hannon.
Seven stalwart trotters went to post Friday in a Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association Trot at Scioto Downs, and when the judges posted the official sign Alesha Binkley emerged victorious after she reined Wittyville to a gate to wire triumph in 1:57.4.
Despite starting from the six-hole Binkley sent the son of Manofmanymissions to the lead when the gate sprung and she led her competition by that standard in :29.1. Despite Roundtown Rocker ( Peter Stratton) being parked the talented lady driver of her charge by the half in :59.2.
After Wittyville put Stratton s trotter away Binkley braced for challenges from Backdoor Man (Floyd Rhodes) and Just Joe (Naquel Harvey). The Hottest 100 of 2020 is now locked into the countdown history books. But is it really all over if we haven’t pored over all the weird facts and figures from your fave songs from The Very Weird, No Good Year that was?
Glass Animals took out the #1 spot and there’s a neat inforgraphic but as is annual tradition, it’s time to pick over all the statistics and trivia in detail. Let’s do it!
66 songs in the countdown came from Australian artists. That’s tied with 2016 as the biggest year for Aussie artists in the Hottest 100! The last three years, it’s been 65 Aussie songs, so it’s nice to finally pip that figure.
And the Victorian Premier himself approves.
“I want to congratulate Mashd N Kutcher for making it into the Hottest 100,” Andrews said in a special message to triple j listeners during Saturday’s countdown.
“I haven’t heard a lot of their work, but this particular song? I’ve heard once or twice.”
The Brisbane duo’s banger samples the now-iconic 2020 moment where Dandrews told Victorians at a March press conference not to congregate and “get on the beers” after pubs had been shuttered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (Oh, and a bit of Trump, because #2020.)
