kim jong-un to sign-off on perhaps in a matter of days. if they did do that, that would really escalate tensions. but to me this morning feels like a bit of dialed back rhetoric, they didn t personally attack the president, they didn t go into greater detail about this plan. really? reporter: they said the president is a nuclear war fanatic but that s something they said about u.s. presidents obama, bush, clinton, this is north korean much more standard propaganda. this is not the message we saw earlier this week. again, actions speak loutder than words. this is a war of words. we know the u.s.-south korea military exercises regularly scheduled to take off later this month, that s a time often north korea demonstrates force by launching missiles, so the situation could still very much escalate. it s still quite sensitive here at the moment. will ripley, really appreciate the reporting and perspective. thank you very much. let s go to the pentagon now. we find our barbara starr th
jon meacham still with us, tina brown as well as mark halperin in washington. joining us now from the white house, nbc news chief white house correspondent and political director and co-host of the daily rundown, chuck todd. we re watching the president s next move on a number of issues on wisconsin. will there be one? on libya and on the budget. let s start with wisconsin. the protests continue and grow throughout the weekend. folks were station in the state capital overnight. does the president plan to step back in or what is the white house s take on watching that situation? reporter: well, every day they seem to almost ratchet back rhetoric on wisconsin, trying to stay out of it, even more so than they were before. they sort of got dragged into it during a tv interview. and just dipping that toe into the water and now you can just tell they want they don t want anything to do with it. they re monitoring it closely because it is wisconsin and because this is a contagious battl
outray just today. megyn: some are saying it s the vitriol that led to this that we heard from politicians and pun pundits that may have influences a compromised mind such as this one. though he admit it was pure speculation. but then there are others saying take it a step beyond that. forget wet there is a direct link. isn t this an opportunity to call for dialing back the rhetoric? and some have responded to that by saying, you know, even that is too much because it s free speech and people are allowed to say and do what they want long they are not threatening. how do you feel about it? reporter: if you want to dial back the rhetoric yourself, dial back rhetoric yourself. but those people trying to find an excuse to do harm to someone
