THE State Government launched the Sabah Welfare Foundation (YKS) during the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) First Anniversary celebration, Wednesday, with RM12.1million for starters from various government and private organisations to assist in implementing its welfare agenda in the state.  The contributors included Sawit Kinabalu which gave RM5 million; Yayasan Sabah Group through Sabah Softwood and Benta Wawasan (RM2m); WTC Holdings Berhad (RM1m); Qhazanah Sabah Berhad (RM1m); Sabah Credit Corporation (RM1m); Sabah Energy Corporation Sdn Bhd (RM1m); Asian Supply Base Sdn Bhd (RM500,000); Ipmuda Berhad (RM250,000); Lau Gek Poh Foundation (RM200,000); Persatuan Syarikat Pengurusan Kelab Sabah @ Jesselton Waterfront (RM100,000); and Cement Industries Sabah Sdn Bhd (RM100,000)

Sedia to lead Sabah's side of Malaysia-Indonesia regional border development

KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Datuk Hajiji Noor ( pix) has today directed the Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (Sedia) to take the lead in developing the Sabah’s side of Malaysia-Indonesia regional border development. Hajiji, who is also state Finance Minister and Sedia chairman, said this involved a road construction connecting the border of Serudong in Kalabakan, Tawau to Simanggaris in Indonesia following the federal government’s nod to Sabah’s proposal to build a road to Kalimantan. He said the approval for the project was conveyed to him by Economic Affairs Minister, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed during a video discussion early this month.

(CM Dept pic) KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (SEDIA) has been directed to take the lead in developing Sabah’s side of the Malaysia-Indonesia regional border development, chief minister Hajiji Noor said. This involves constructing a road connecting the border of Serudong in Kalabakan, Tawau, to Simanggaris in Indonesia following the federal government’s nod to Sabah’s proposal to build a road into Kalimantan, where Indonesia’s new capital will be.
