Bush Hall pensioner saved from house fire by neighbours Article by April 28, 2021 Lamar Sandiford and about seven other neighbours were forced to ditch their shop conversation and jump into action to save a pensioner from a fire that engulfed his home at Bush Hall Yard Gap, St Michael. Sandiford said it was not an easy effort but they were determined to rescue 81-year-old Hamilton Marshall who appeared equally determined to stay put. The brave villager told Barbados TODAY: “We tried to save him and bring him out of there, but he was real stubborn coming out, so I had to use a little force but then the smoke was so thick I tell the guys we have to come out and wet the other sides of the house and make sure the rest of the people good. It is a lucky thing that we save he. You can get back a house anytime, but you can’t get back a life.” ....
Prison staff among those appearing in court Article by February 18, 2021 Two prison officers appeared before the law court today separately charged with breaching the COVID-19 protocols. They are Ainsley Raymond King, of 3rd Avenue Alleyne’s Land, Bush Hall, St Michael and Kenlarry Cain, of Rosehill, Newbury St George. Police charged King with leaving home on February 16 between the hours of 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. when he was not part of an essential service or had an emergency. He is further charged with not wearing a face mask, face shield or face covering on the same date. He pleaded not guilty to both charges before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes. ....
Man remanded to St Ann’s Fort for 28 days Article by January 13, 2021 Accused Jahbarrie Kimar Lionel Walcott has described as a “set up” a five-month-old criminal charge brought against him. It is alleged that the 31-year-old from 4th Avenue Alleyne’s Land, Bush Hall, St Michael entered the house of Mashauna Thompson as a trespasser with intent to inflict bodily harm upon Shane Carrington and had a firearm with him at the time. He was not required to plead to the indictable charge which reportedly occurred on August 5, 2020. Police Constable Sayleen Hinds in addressing Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes objected to bail based on the seriousness of the offence. She submitted that while Walcott had no previous convictions he was on bail from the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court on three serious charges namely rape, endangering life and serious bodily harm. ....
