Update: Accused burglars remanded - Barbados Today

Michael Lee Yearwood, 21, of 7th Avenue New Orleans St  Michael and  Kareem Onan Vaughn, 26, of Literary Row, St Michael were today remanded to HMP Dodds when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes.
The accused were charged with aggravated burglary at Saving Plus, Rock Dundo, St Michael last Friday.
They are jointly accused of the theft of $1436.85 in cash and one cash pan valued at $55 belonging to Savings Plus Supermarket while being armed with a firearm and a cutlass.
Yearwood will also face charges of possession of one firearm without a valid licence and two rounds of ammunition without a valid permit to do so. ....

A 26-year-old St Michael man has been remanded to Dodds prison for 28 days in connection with three fraud charges allegedly committed in two jurisdictions.
It is alleged that Kemo Avery Grant, from Rogers Road, Grazettes dishonestly obtained $398.49 in goods from BJ’s Value Market Inc trading as Popular Discount, with intent to permanently deprive the company, by falsely representing that eight $50 Popular Discount vouchers that he produced were good and valid orders for payment.
The offence is said to have occurred in the District ‘B’ Oistins jurisdiction on February 4. No plea was taken on that offence when Grant appeared in the District ‘A’ Magistrates’ Court before Chief Magistrate Ian Weekes. ....

A Beckwith Street man’s obligations of a $10,000 child maintenance bill, six children and his house to finish drove him to cultivate cannabis, a court heard Tuesday.
Rodney Alphonso Gill gave police that explanation when they executed a search warrant at his home on Labour Day and discovered 3.5 pounds of cannabis, the Crown told the District A Magistrate’s Court. The illegal substance had an over $7,000 estimated street value.
Police prosecutor Victoria Taitt said 15 plants ranging from two to five feet were found in Gill’s backyard behind a half-finished wall and another seven of about two feet were also found on the premises. ....
