Laos: Govt says 'Be vigilant, get vaccinated', people warned amid fears of new Covid-19 outbreak


VIENTIANE, April 13 (Vientiane Times/ANN): Authorities have warned members of the public to be more vigilant and to get vaccinated against the coronavirus as concern over a fresh outbreak of Covid-19 escalates.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, Deputy Prime Minister Prof. Dr Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune said there was a strong risk of a new outbreak of the virus in Laos.
Ongoing outbreaks in many countries around the world, especially new outbreaks in neighbouring countries, justify the fear of more infections in Laos.
“There is a strong risk that the outbreak could spread into Laos because people have become neglectful and careless, ignoring the guidelines laid down by the taskforce,” he said, referring to the National Taskforce for Covid-19 Prevention and Control. ....
