The most commonplace items of commuting an E-ZPass, a Metrocard and a token will be among the artifacts eventually unearthed from a thermos-sized time capsule, placed in a stone monument Friday morning to commemorate the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s centennial.
A section of original George Washington Bridge cables, recently replaced, and other smaller artifacts were included to represent the bi-state authority that built airports, four bridges, two tunnels, created the nation’s first container terminals, constructed two twin towers and their replacements after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. ....
