was unfolding. the crews removed a volkswagen van and inside this garage after a giant dump truck lost control and crashed. we heard this terrible crash. and so we came up here to see what it was. 24 is what we found. the truck was smashed into the garage. reporter: the 50,000-pound truck was carrying hot asphalt on this steep street. the force of the crash pushed the structure off the foundation. this is what it looked like from the back. the concern right now is that the garage can still fall into the house. reporter: their house is only feet below. crews tied ropes around the garage and secured them to the trees across the street as a safeguard. firefighters say a paving project was happening where the driver of the truck lost controlรง or lost traction on the road and started to slide backwards and jumped out of the truck and subsequently broke his arm in the process. reporter: he will never forget the sound of the crash. she and her husband along with two
