NORTHFIELD After eight months of discussion and three public hearing sessions, the Planning Board has approved the conditions for special permits for three solar arrays to be built along Pine Meadow Road.
The total project will consist of about 76 acres of solar arrays across the three tracts of land owned by the L’Etoile family and Four Star Farms. “Array A,” the largest of the three arrays at roughly 26 acres capable of generating 6 megawatts of power, will be located north along Pine Meadow Road, beyond Riverview Road. “Array B” is capable of generating 4.3 megawatts and would be located across from the Four Star Farms main building. TURNERS FALLS In honor of the 345th anniversary of the Great Falls Massacre, a Day of Remembrance gathering will be held at Peskeomskut Park on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3:30.
The event, intended to recognize the often untold story of the conflict of May 19, 1676 at the falls, is organized by the Nolumbeka Project. It has been held yearly since the town’s reconciliation ceremony in May of 2004, but was canceled last year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Nolumbeka Project Outreach Coordinator Diane Dix. ....

BRATTLEBORO — A new initiative is set to shed more light on local Abenaki history and their existing culture via programming through Retreat Farm.
“This is an Abenaki word, A-T-O-W-I, and it means together in space and time,” Rich Holschuh, director of the Atowi Project, said during the Brattleboro Rotary Club meeting held remotely Thursday.
The cultural outreach organization will improve a trail at the Retreat Meadows and add signs telling the history of the area through “Abenaki eyes” among other projects, Holschuh said. An event in August at the farm announced the undertaking. ....
