The Ram Page staff decided for Pride Month this year, we wanted to bring attention to different educational websites, global resources and charities we recognize and encourage our fellow students to look into. In providing this brief list of information, the staff hopes to remind our community that many resources and opportunities to make a difference are available at all times, even if they are not the ones we noticed. According to OutRight Action International, an international LGBT+ human rights organization, the acronym LGBTQIA stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and or Questioning, Intersex and Asexual and or Ally. Queer, a word with a historically negative connotation, was reclaimed by LGBTQIA+ activists in the 1980s in an effort to control the agency of the language used to offend them. The third floor of the Porter Henderson Library is the scene of an investigation after being vandalized between Thursday afternoon and 7 a.m. on April 30.
The whiteboards and projector screen in Room 326 were written on, as well as a variety of the posters in the room. Other posters in the hallway to the classroom were crossed out.
Dr. Ellada Gamreklidze, an assistant professor in the Department of Communication and Mass Media, first discovered the room being vandalized. She arrived at the library around 7:30 a.m. and noticed the posters in the elevator had been marked on, but thought nothing of it at first. ....
