WASHINGTON, DC FEMA is providing financial assistance for funeral expenses from COVID-19 deaths, provided the expenses were incurred after January 20, 2020, and have not been reimbursed by other financial sources. Assistance is limited to a maximum of $9,000 per funeral and a maximum of $35,500 per application per state. 
At this time, there is no deadline to apply for COVID-19 Funeral Assistance. FEMA will communicate a specific deadline once established. ....

More than 12,900 Hoosiers have died from COVID-19 since the pandemic began. The deaths take a toll on the emotions of their families, but also on their finances. Funerals are expensive, totaling thousands of dollars.
Yet, there’s new help that many Hoosiers don’t know about. COVID-related deaths are part of a national emergency. As a result, the Federal Emergency Management Agency began accepting applications for COVID-19 Funeral Assistance on April 12.
FEMA is reimbursing families for up to $9,000 per COVID-related funeral or $35,000 per application if multiple family members died from the virus. My law firm, Applegate & Dillman Elder Law, is busy educating other estate planners, probate attorneys, financial planners and families about this little-known benefit. ....

General Manager Tony Mazzucco and Health Director Sigalle Reiss would like to provide information for residents on FEMA s new Funeral Assistance Program, which is now accepting applications.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is providing financial assistance for COVID-19-related funeral expenses incurred after Jan. 20, 2020. The program provides a maximum of $9,000 per funeral to eligible individuals who incurred funeral expenses due to COVID-19.
Eligibility requirements include the following:
• The death must have occurred in the U.S., U.S. territories or the District of Columbia.
• The death certificate must indicate the death was attributed to COVID-19. ....

FEMA is providing financial assistance for COVID-19 related funeral expenses incurred after Jan. 20, 2020.
“Certain criteria must be met to receive help in paying for funeral expenses,” said Kylie Chandler, supervisor with the Minnesota River Area Agency on Aging.
To be eligible for funeral assistance:
The death must have occurred in the United States, including the U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia.
The death certificate must indicate the death was attributed to COVID-19.
The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, non-citizen national, or qualified alien who incurred funeral expenses after Jan. 20, 2020. ....
