According to police, officers with the San Marcos Police Department were dispatched to the I Don t Know Bar on East Hopkins Street around 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec 12 for an aggravated assault. Bar staff reportedly called the police and reported that a Hispanic male, later identified as Edward Eddie Rodriguez, Jr., 36, of Bertram, pulled a knife on the bouncer. ....

The San Marcos Police Department arrested one person for aggravated assault at I Don’t Know Bar on Saturday, and four individuals at an incident at The Village on Telluride early Sunday morning. “Huge thanks to our officers for their hard work and diligent efforts to solve these crimes and keep our community safe,” Chief Stan Standridge said in a statement. Hopkins St. for an aggravated assault on Saturday at approximately 8:10 p.m. Police said bar staff reported that a Hispanic male identified as Edward Eddie Rodriguez Jr., 36, of Bertram pulled a knife on a bouncer. ....
Five people were charged in San Marcos over the weekend in separate assault cases across a six-hour span, police said. San Marcos police first responded to the I Don’t Know Bar, 650 E. Hopkins St., west of Interstate 35 just after 8 p.m. on Saturday after bar staff told police a man pulled a knife on the bouncer. Police described the man, identified as 36-year-old Edward Rodriguez Jr., as highly intoxicated and said he was carrying a fixed-blade knife and drugs. Rodriguez was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and criminal trespass. He was booked into the Hays County Jail but has since been released. ....
