Lake District walker's 'snapped hamstring' triggers rescue effort

A FELL walker was airlifted to safety after suffering an accident on boggy near the top of a Lake District fell.
It happened yesterday afternoon at High Seat in the Central Fells while the man was out walking with his wife.
As the man attempted to jump across some over boggy ground, he landed awkwardly and immediately felt his hamstring snap . The couple called 999 and asked for mountain rescue assistance.
Fortunately the Great North Air Ambulance was available to attend quickly.
A rescue team Sprinter vehicle with Keswick team members was deployed with the knowledge that GNAAS were en route just in case the helicopter had to be diverted. ....

NORTHALLERTON CAMERA CLUB’S Zoom meeting on Monday, February 1, was very topical, given the mixed weather of late, as it was on the subject of Seasons .
There was a plethora of weather-related images to feast the eye on and judge Alan Porrett had the onerous task of sifting through all 70 of them to find the best.
The standard was so high that he judged 13 images to be outstanding, giving joint third place to Dave Coates for his entries entitled The Twisleton Erratic and (a lovely mixture of golden daffodils and dark clouds) – Spring Storm Light, St. Mary’s. There was also a one-man tie for second with Chris Morton’s hauntingly atmospheric Autumn Gold and shiver – inducing Lakeland Pass receiving the honours. ....
