Community Transit offering customers free rides to get vaccination

Community Transit is now offering people free rides on the bus to get their COVID-19 vaccination. The free round-trip does not require customers provide any documents. They can simply state they are traveling to get the vaccine or returning from receiving it. The free ride can be used to travel to mass vaccination sites, a doctor’s office, pharmacy or wherever the customer plans to get vaccinated.
“We want to help as many people as possible get the vaccine so that our community can enjoy a return to normal life with family and friends,” said Community Transit CEO Ric Ilgenfritz. “A free ride can make the difference for people who have not been able to get a vaccine before now.” ....

Update: The Snohomish Health District announced Sunday that no doses of the Pfizer vaccine were wasted.
Health officials said the Snohomish County Vaccine Taskforce had given out 974 doses of the Pfizer vaccine and 536 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at the Ash Way Park & Ride.
Thank you #SnoCo! The Snohomish County Vaccine Taskforce administered 974 doses of Pfizer and 536 doses of J&J at Ash Way P&R today and NO doses were wasted!

Hundreds of doses of Pfizer are set to expire on Sunday afternoon in Snohomish County. Health officials are urging anyone over 16 to reserve a dose now at the Ash Way Park & Ride vaccination site in Lynnwood.
If you’re younger than 18, you must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The site at Ash Way Park is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Snohomish County says demand has exceeded supply for four months, but that changed abruptly last week along with other counties and states. The Vaccine Taskforce made changes to supply as soon as the decrease in demand was noted, according to the county. To make up for the difference, the taskforce included more weekend and evening availability, posting appointments a week in advance, and offering a second-dose catch-up clinic. ....
