let s bring in cnn white house reporter jasmine wright who has been following this story. what more are you learning? reporter: well, this really all started bus jim jordan, who chairs the judiciary committee in the house, has been asking for a broad selection of documents from the department of justice materials briefingings and so now the department of justice is saying that while we want a positive working relationship with the committee, there are certain things we are not going to be able to provide and that includes materials for ongoing investigations, which would include that special inquiry into president biden s handling of documents, but also it would include former president trump s handling of classified documents. so in a letter to jim jordan, the department wrote consistent with longstanding policy and practice, any oversight requests must be weighed against the department s interest in protecting the integrity of its work. we see them relying on past
