Published March 7, 2021, 5:11 PM CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – A rookie policeman was disarmed after he accidentally killed a detainee while allegedly toying with his gun inside the San Luis Municipal Station in Aurora Saturday. Police Regional Office 3 (PRO 3) director Police Brig. Gen. Valeriano T. de Leon ordered Police Col. Julius Lizardo, director of the Aurora police, to place Police Patrolman Christian Torres, 27, under restrictive custody while being investigated for the accidental firing that resulted in the death of inmate Christian Gabral, 30. Police Lt Col. Soledad Elefanio, spokesperson of the PRO3, said Torres went in front of the detention cell, drew his issued short firearm, and began playing with it. The gun accidently went off, hitting Gabral who was then watching television. ....
Published December 16, 2020, 1:43 PM TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija – A 56-year-old man died after a motorcycle he was driving collided head-on with a police car in Brgy. Baluga at around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday. The victim was identified as Ruperto Villamar, caretaker, and a resident of Brgy. Pinagpanaan, Talavera who was rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead by attending physicians. The car driver, Cpl. Harold Jay Chan, who was assigned at the Aurora Provincial Police Office (APPO) in Camp Victor Ravina, Baler, Aurora, voluntarily gave himself up to the local police. Investigation disclosed that the victim, who was driving a motorcycle (1657-NF) suddenly crossed the road which resulted in the mishap. ....
