We only have it on display when the legislature is in session. It is very fragile and we try to keep it protected under the red drapery. We usually have a replica hanging in its place because the legislature will gavel in it january of 2015. We have the original on display and its one of those iconic Texas History artifacts all of our School Children who come to the capital to learn about Texas History, to learn about capital history and how to be a good citizen. They have the opportunity to see artifacts of close and personal. The capital welcomes more than a million visitors every year and we are thankful to be able to show them not only the capital itself and its wonderful historical furnishings and interiors, but we have a number of monuments on the Capitol Grounds to various causes. AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - The Downtown Branch of the Amarillo Public Library finished construction of their new MakerSpace, and staff plan to open the space to the public on June 1.
As the first phase of the project wraps up, staff are moving in equipment.
âMost of the construction is complete and we are in the phase now where we are equipping it with work benches, adjustable table tops and adjustable stools, [and] outlets at each station,â explained Stacy Clopton, public relations coordinator for Amarillo Public Library.
