Central Visayas wage board OKs P31 minimum salary hike

(File photo) MANILA - Private sector workers in Region 7 (Central Visayas) will be getting a PHP31 per day wage hike as approved by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) on Wednesday. In a statement, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said the RTWPB has just released the adjusted salary for minimum wage earners in Central Visayas. With the RTWPB's decision, the region's current minimum wage is now between PHP387 and PHP435 for non-agriculture employees and between PHP382 to PHP425 for workers in the agriculture sector. At the same time, the DOLE said the RTWPB in Central Visayas granted a PHP500 increase in monthly pay for kasambahay or household helpers. This increased the kasambahay's minimum salary to PHP5,500 and PHP4,500 for chartered cities and first-class municipalities, and other municipalities, respectively. The new wage order will be submitted to the National Wage and Productivity Commission for review and shall take effect 15 day ....
