NegOcc guv welcomes proposed law creating Negros Island Region

BACOLOD CITY - Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson welcomed on Wednesday the bill filed by Negrense lawmakers led by Third District Rep. Jose Francisco Benitez for the creation of the Negros Island Region (NIR). "I'm glad they did file a bill. It's very encouraging," Lacson said in an interview with Capitol reporters. On Tuesday, Benitez said that together with eight other representatives from Negros Island, he filed House Bill 10534 that seeks to create the NIR "for greater economic coordination and more efficient delivery of public services to promote sustainable and inclusive economic development in Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental". The proposed law was also signed by six other Negros Occidental representatives, including Greg Gasataya of the Lone District of Bacolod; Gerardo Valmayor Jr., first district; Leo Rafael Cueva, second district; Juliet Ferrer, fourth district; Ma. Cops ordered to stay well-informed of alert level systems

(File photo) MANILA - Police chiefs nationwide are ordered to stay well-informed about the varying alert level system as its implementation begins outside Metro Manila starting Wednesday. Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said Wednesday the order is to ensure the proper implementation of the protocols. "This is to ensure the orderly implementation of protocols and to avoid confusion among the public," Eleazar said in a statement. "But this will not be the reason for us to lower our guard because as the national government plans to expand the easing of restrictions beyond Metro Manila, I have already issued instructions to all our unit commanders to fully prepare for this in their respective areas of responsibility in order to ensure that this will not result in super spreader events," he added. Gov't eyes nationwide rollout of alert level system

In a Palace press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque cited the drop in coronavirus cases and the improvement of healthcare utilization rate as reasons to expand the ALS. Negros Oriental in Region 7 and Davao Occidental in Region 11 are eyed to be placed under Alert Level 4. Cavite, Laguna and Rizal in Region 4-A; Siquijor in Region 7; Davao City and Davao del Norte in Region 11 will be under Alert Level 3. Alert Level 2 will be placed over Batangas, Quezon Province, and Lucena City in Region 4-A; Bohol, Cebu City, Lapu-lapu City, Mandaue City, Cebu Province in Region 7; and Davao de Oro, Davao del Sur, and Davao Oriental in Region 11. NCR to be under Alert Level 3 from Oct. 16-31

(File photo) MANILA - The alert level status in Metro Manila will be downgraded to Alert Level 3 from the current Alert Level 4 beginning Oct. 16, Malacanang announced Wednesday. This, after the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) decided to ease restrictions in Metro Manila, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a press statement. "The Inter-Agency Task Force on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, approved the recommendation to place the National Capital Region under Alert Level 3 beginning October 16, 2021 until October 31, 2021," said Roque, also acting as IATF-EID spokesperson. He said the IATF-EID also approved and adopted the revisions to the Guidelines on the Implementation of Alert Levels System for Covid-19 Response in the Pilot Areas.
