Ex-Mount Vernon police chief get back pay after no charges in OT probe

That was unusual for a chief, yet Westchester County prosecutors decided not to pursue criminal charges.
But a city press release last week announcing Ziadie s vindication may have gone too far. New Westchester District Attorney Mimi Rocah on Thursday emphasized what the press release did not.
She said that prosecutors under her predecessor were not condoning Ziadie s actions, just that they couldn t prove criminal charges beyond a reasonable doubt.
But Ziadie insisted Friday he did nothing wrong, saying he worked in an understaffed command structure, for a demanding mayor who required him to report at all hours.

New Rochelle police officer cleared after internal review of fatal Flowers shooting

New Rochelle Police Commissioner Joseph Schaller announced Thursday evening officer Alec McKenna did not commit any violations when he fatally shot Kamal Flowers last June.
The determination came after a months-long internal review into the June 5, 2020 incident where Flowers was killed by McKenna, who has been on the force since 2015. A grand jury declined to indict McKenna on any charges connected to the shooting last November.
McKenna has been on paid administrative leave since the shooting and remained on leave as of Thursday, according to the city.
The entire incident was thoroughly investigated; and, it has been concluded that none of the officers involved in this incident committed any violations of the Department s policies or procedures, Schaller said in a statement.  ....
