The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reporting 1,104 residents in two hot spot postal codes lined up Monday morning to get vaccinated.
“We would like to thank those who braved the weather and the lines to be vaccinated,” says WECHU CEO Theresa Marentette. “Everyone who received a vaccine were very appreciative…Our own staff felt it was very rewarding.”
Marentette says 702 vaccines were administered at St. Angela Centre and Hall while 402 were administed at Mackenzie Hall for inidividuals 18 and older living or working in postal codes N9A and N9C.
The WECHU issued a news release around 1 p.m. saying they had reached the end of their vaccine allocation for the clinics. Final results found 80 per cent of those vaccinated were between the ages of 20 and 39 years old. ....

Windsor’s first-ever walk-up pop-up vaccine clinics ran out of doses mere hours after opening Monday morning with hundreds arriving early and braving rainfall to roll up their sleeves.
A line of more than 200 wrapped around Mackenzie Hall and the former Windsor Jail beside it by 8:45 a.m., 15 minutes before the one-day COVID-19 vaccine clinic officially opened its doors to let a few clients in. So many showed up that the local health unit decided to allot the west-end pop-up an extra 150 doses.

Mass vaccination sites open to 50-plus, 18-plus in hot spot postal codes

Adult residents of seven select Windsor-Essex postal codes as well as anyone age 50 and older can now book a COVID-19 vaccine appointment.
Starting Monday, anyone age 18 and up living in a neighbourhood identified as a “hot spot” for the virus is eligible for the Pfizer jab at a mass vaccination site. The local chosen postal codes are N8X, N8Y, N9A, N9B, N9C, N8H, and N9Y. Those born in 1971 and earlier can book an appointment regardless of where they live.

Health Unit Opens Pop Up Vaccination Locations

The Health Unit’s allocation of COVID-19 vaccines has reached capacity at two pop-up locations in the city.
Health Unit CEO Theresa Marentette says as of 1:00pm they have reached their allocation and will not be taking any more patients.

“We are pleased with the excellent community response to the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit Mobile Pop Up Clinics in the N9A and N9C area codes,” Marentette said. “We have now reached the end of our vaccine allocation for these clinics and will not be taking in any new clients.” ....
