Cloutier Special to the Daily News The popularity of a special appetizer at Palm Beach Grill recently has rivalled the restaurant’s longtime favorite starters such as deviled eggs and fried oysters. Now the clock is ticking: The grilled artichoke halves appetizer, served with remoulade sauce, will be on hiatus come summer. The vegetable’s annual peak growing season in California where the vast majority of the country’s artichokes are grown is in spring and generally continues through May. “We’ll have them for around another month and then we won’t have them again until about January,” said Andrew Schor, executive chef at Palm Beach Grill. “Whenever we have artichokes, everyone loves them,” he said. ....
