TROY, N.Y. â The City of Troy will add six new community police officers. At Thursday evening s Troy City Council meeting, the measure passed in a bipartisan fashion, 5-2. The proposal placing two new officers in each zone also had the support of Troy Mayor Patrick Madden. The passage followed much contentious and deliberate discussion on the issue. As part of the proposal, two officers would be dedicated to each zone. On paper, the goal is to have the community officers engaged with neighborhoods, building trust and rapport, and solve potential problems before they escalate. The public comment session appeared to be mixed if not leaning against the proposal among residents who spoke.
