The Australian native was there at the very beginning of Merlin, announcing the independents’ digital rights agency to the industry at Midem 2007, and helming the organization from its inception in 2008. During his time in charge, Merlin distributed over $2 billion to roughly 900 members, including more than 20,000 labels and distributors in over 60 countries that make up 12% of the global digital recorded-music market. Prior to leaving at the end of 2019, Caldas had struck licensing deals with Spotify, YouTube, Deezer, SoundCloud, Pandora, Facebook, Tencent and more. ....
