Daily Post Nigeria Published As the National Assembly’s 1999 Constitution Review held a two day public hearing across the six geopolitical zones of the country, Rivers State Socio-cultural and socio-political group, Kenge Unity Forum (KUF) has submitted their position paper to the Committee in Port-Harcourt. The memorandum which contained the group’s position as seen by DAILY POST on Friday has a series of recommendations that they believe would cure the daunting social and infrastructural challenges confronting the nation. The memorandum which was submitted to the Committee by the group’s leader, Ambassador Sobomabo Jackrich insisted that ownership rights of lands and the natural resources be restored to the original indigenous landowners while government should play a regulatory role. ....
Irked by the absence of the NDDC boss at its sitting on Monday, the Committee, chaired by Senator Ayo Akinyelure (PDP Ondo Central), resolved that the Inspector – General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, will be officially contacted by the Senate to bring the NNDC boss before the committee unfailingly on the 9th of next month. Deji Elumoye in Abuja A management staff of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has accused the agency of squandering N6.25billion on phantom palliatives against COVID-19 in 2020. This is just as the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, issued final summon to the management of the commission to unfailingly appear before it on February 22 for explanations on the alleged palliatives’ mismanagement. NDDC had under the recently sacked Professor Daniel Pondei-led Interim Management Committee ( IMC) claimed to have spent N6.25 billion on palliatives against COVID-19 last year across the nine oil producing States. However, the Chairman of the agency’s COVID-19 Palliative Distribution Committee , Ambassador Sobomabo Jackrich , said not a dime was spent for such purpose by the then IMC of the Commission. ....

The Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions was on Thursday informed about how N6.25billion was squandered by the axed Interim Management Committee ( IMC) led by Professor Daniel Pondei. In a petition addressed to the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions Committee, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, Chairman of the agency’s COVID-19 Palliative Distribution Committee, Ambassador Sobomabo Jackrich, said no amount was spent as palliatives. ....
