Bronco Corps offers help for small businesses and nonprofits, puts student skills and talents to work

Boise State’s College of Business and Economics (COBE) is actively helping the Idaho business community solve challenges and disruptions due to COVID. Last fall, the college launched Bronco Corps, a program that provides Idaho small businesses and nonprofit organizations with student interns at no cost, and helps students gain valuable work experience. Following a successful pilot phase, a generous donor recently made it possible for the program to continue through 2021.
Organizations that took part in Bronco Corps last year include the Gardner Company, Boise Bicycle Project, American Red Cross, Girl Scouts of Silver Sage, Girls on the Run, and Boise Cakery, to name a few. Based on an end-of-year survey, 67 percent of the companies will offer additional opportunities to interns. Each of the participating companies reported that the main goals of the internships were met. ....

Center for the Visual Arts receives prestigious American Architecture Award

Over 130 buildings and urban plans from a shortlist of over 400 projects have won 2020 American Architecture Awards in a competition organized by The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
Boise State’s Center for the Visual Arts is among them.
The CVA is one of 11 winners in the Culture and Museums category. Its designer, HGA, submitted the building for consideration.
“This tremendous award confirms the Center for the Visual Arts project achieved two vital goals,” said Kathleen Keys, interim director of the School of the Arts. “The creation of a world class art research, teaching and learning facility, and simultaneously a brilliant work of architecture and design. The CVA mirrors Boise State’s commitment to the arts and significantly impacts the regional landscape with remarkable and dazzling contemporary architecture.� ....
