Public officials dialogue scheduled in Lima By Trevor Hubert - [email protected] LIMA The Allen Economic Development group is holding a public officials dialogue from noon to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28 at the Lima-Allen County Chamber of Commerce, 144 South Main Street, Suite 100 in Lima. County, township, village and city officials are invited to attend the event. The conversation will revolve around “Allen 2020”, reflecting on the vision that was laid out for Allen County at the turn of the century and where it stands now. Coleman LIMA Lima may lose its designation as a “Metropolitan” area, and with it, funding for a number of housing, transportation and Medicare reimbursement programs. The Office of Management and Budget is considering a proposal that would make the core city in a metropolitan area have at least 100,000 people, doubling its previous requirement of 50,000. Lima’s population checks in at 72,852. “Presently Lima/Allen County is considered a Tier 3 Metropolitan with a population between 50,000 and 200,000.
