Around 2006 or so in the History Department at the university of southern mississippi, we were together, but weve stayed in touch and always have had shared interests. Mike, its great to be here with you today and have a conversation on a subject thats extremely timely, which is really responding to crisis. You know, obviously what needs to be said for our audience theyve seen all the evidence they can of a current crisis, the coronavirus crisis, economic downturn thats going to be a serious issue for leaders, for every day people for a while to come. It seems a good time to talk about two major 20th century crises. At the end of two world wars how leaders responded and to raise the issue about what light that might throw on the present, a framework for comparison. Dispieces five, on rockwell boulevard west. It took 23 firefighters 18 minutes to crows this blaze. The red cross is assisting two adults and three children as firefighters investigate the cause. Sky 3 over the scene, another fire in East Charlotte on hillet court, 10 30 this morning, the fire on the first floor of the home. No one was injured. Firefighters did rescue two dogs. An active crime alert in west charlotte. Police searching for a shooter connected to a homicide investigation. That happened 2 45 this morning, on park fair drive, not far from allen brook elementary school. Police say the man was driven to the Medical Center where he died. We talked to people who live nearby, who say they heard the gunfire. Like a shotgun, like bam. I could not imagine, we were going to work or school. So i it is an awful feeling.
