The final tournaments of the Russian National Championships, played at the Central Chess Club in Moscow, are coming to an end. Twelve male and twelve female players are competing in the tournaments dubbed as Superfinals.
Before the ninth round, Ian Nepomniachtchi, the rating favourite, was alone in the lead. He had to face the very dangerous Daniil Dubov though, and he ended up losing the full point. Finding himself with little time on the clock, he failed to correctly assess the position and made a serious, albeit not immediately obvious, mistake.
