Zade to be UT Finance Secretary

After over eight months, the UT Administration will get a Finance Secretary. The Central Government has approved the appointment of Vijay Namdeorao Zade, a 2002-batch IAS officer of the Punjab cadre, to the post for a period of three years.
The post was lying vacant since September 1, 2020, after Punjab-cadre IAS officer Ajoy Kumar Sinha was relieved of the charge on the completion of his deputation with the UT Administration.
Most of the departments under him were given to Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary (Home), in addition to his existing departments.
Meanwhile, the three-year deputation of Arun Kumar Gupta, a Haryana-cadre IAS officer of the 1992 batch, and the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, KK Yadav, a Punjab-cadre IAS officer of the 2003 batch, with the Administration will end this month. ....

Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], May 11 (ANI): Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh on Tuesday directed the local government department to expedite work on his flagship Basera project, to achieve the target of giving proprietary rights to 10000 slum households, and ensure its completion by December.
Reviewing the functioning of the local government department during a virtual meeting, the chief minister asked the officials to fast-track all major projects under state and central government schemes to ensure their completion and commissioning by December this year, stated an official press release. ....

Speed up ongoing mojor Infra projects for early completion, orders Chief Secretary

CHANDIGARH: In order to ensure seamless implementation of ongoing major infrastructure development projects in the state, Punjab Chief Secretary, Ms Vini Mahajan, on Tuesday directed all the departments concerned to accelerate the pace of the work to complete these projects on time.
The Chief Secretary issued these directions while chairing a virtual meeting of the Public Investment Management Committee here.
She reviewed the status of implementation, progress, and completion of 49 major infrastructure projects being undertaken in the state at an estimated cost of Rs 10, 533 crore. ....

Train tragedy: Dept acts against 4 civic officials

Two years after a train tragedy claimed the lives of more than 50 persons, the state government has initiated departmental action against the guilty civic officials, including MC secretary Sushant Bhatia.
Secretary, Local Bodies Department, Ajoy Kumar Sinha, on Tuesday stopped the increment of Sushant Bhatia and superintendent Pushpinder Singh for two years while superintendent Girish Kumar (retd) and inspector Kewal Krishan (retd) would face a five per cent cut in their pension for two years.
However, the government has closed the case against additional divisional fire officer Kashmir Singh (retd) as charges could not be proved against him. ....

Ludhiana: Several residents of a private colony near Dugri are up in arms against the sarpanch of the area and the developer of colony, claiming that for the past one and half months both have failed to resolve their sewerage-related problems. The aggrieved residents are claiming that even after taking one time charges and now recurring charges, the developer has failed to repair and maintain the roads and sewerage of the area near Shaheed Bhagat Singh Park and water tank number 2 in Basant Avenue. The residents are also alleging that the sewerage is overflowing outsider their homes, making commuting on the road difficult and posing a threat to their health. ....
