The Laramie Project, a play about the torture and murder of Matthew Shepard in Wyoming, in 1998, has been seared on my mind since I saw it at the Civic Theatre in Tallaght some years ago.
I have to disagree with David Ryan (Letters, January 22) in which he said Joe Biden and Donald Trump are too old to be running for high political office in America.
Tom Gilsenan’s letter (‘Tactful teacher saved my blushes after an appalling result in school exam’, Irish Independent, December 29) tells the reader how he got 5pc in mechanical drawing in secondary school many years ago.
It was interesting to hear the justice minister state that the “thugs and criminals” involved in the Dublin rioting will be “arrested and jailed”. These were most reassuring words, but we must remember how the justice system works.
