Phase 2 of South Africa’s vaccine rollout, targeting people over the age of 60, will begin on 17 May.
The health department is set to release details of more than 3,000 vaccination sites which will be used in Phase 2 and 3 of the rollout.

Thirteen private hospitals will form part of the expansion of the vaccine rollout sites for healthcare workers countrywide.
Among the considerations in the selection were the number of Covid-19 cases treated to date, their proximity to research and other healthcare facilities within their catchment areas and geographic spread.
President Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday said more than 67 000 health workers have already been vaccinated.

The national department of health says the roll-out of the Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccine has been successful so far. This comes as the country received the second batch of the vaccine on Saturday morning.
Another 80 000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine touched down at OR Tambo International Airport from the US.
On Friday Gauteng said it had completed the vaccination of the first 16 000 healthcare workers. The provincial government announced additional vaccination sites from next week – Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital in Pretoria, Netcare Milpark Private Hospital in Johannesburg and the Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital in Lenasia.
