The City of San Diego is handing out free seed packets at its Public Library locations on Earth Day as a way of encouraging San Diegans to grow food on their own and “create a more sustainable and healthier lifestyle.”
Print Vista Community Clinic has been giving out fresh and boxed food to support the health of patients and community members in need through food distributions for more than a decade. Since the onset of the pandemic, food distribution has increased and is offered up to four times a week, based on need, thanks to a number of local groups and nonprofits ranging from Feeding San Diego, Poder Popular and Coastal along with grants to the clinic. Diapers are also currently available, in various sizes. Parents and guardians of babies and young children can request a box of diapers when they call to schedule their food pick-up. The Imagine Carlsbad team will host a Carlsbad Village walkabout with a Q&A at 6 p.m. Monday, May10th at the Carlsbad City Hall front steps, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive. The walk focuses on proposed ideas for remodeling City Hall into a Civic Center with a large parking structure, performing arts center, community gardens and tunnel to the village under Interstate 5.
