New Delhi [India], March 7 (ANI): From being an efficient homemaker to running a campaign, launching an initiative, reporting an achievement, and many more, women have proven their mettle in every sphere across the world.
International Women s Day is observed to celebrate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. Every year, the day is observed on March 8 with the purpose to support a platform that helps forge positive change for women.
Be it any field, ladies have never left any stone unturned to prove themselves. To commemorate the occasion, let s celebrate womanhood by taking a look back at those ladies who chose to challenge and crossed all the hurdles with flying colours.

During a month when women are recognized, we asked Birmingham-area residents, name a woman in history who stands out for you?
LISA BECK: “I’m thinking of trailblazers like Marsha P. Johnson. She was a transwoman of color who was heavily involved in the Stonewall Riots in New York for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) rights. I think we have to take an intersectional look at LGBTQ rights . . . and I think it gets really whitewashed.”
MARY EVINS: “Emily Dickinson. When I was younger, I really enjoyed reading her poems and her other works and she was one of the most influential women authors of her time period. I think it was cool that she had the courage to write and publish her [own] works, especially since . . . [in the] world back then a lot of women wrote and published their works under a man’s name.”

better, they understood him better. and let s stand together to elect barack obama president of the united states of america. thank you. for the next two months the obamas fought hard against barack s republican opponent, john mccain. then election night. from tears to cheers and high emotion at chicago s grant park, america elects its first african-american president. from chicago s south side, michelle s incredible journey had taken her to the white house. because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to america. and you see the family on this enormous stage, but then the cameras also pan to the crowd, and there s just this diverse array of people in grant park. there was no going back.
