Wednesday August 8, 2012 On Wednesday, August 8th, the Arena Football League hosted ArenaBowl XXV Media Day at the New Orleans Arena. The head coaches of both teams and Commissioner Jerry Kurz addressed the media. The Arizona Rattlers appeared at the first media day session. Coach Kevin Guy addressed the media, and introduced his team and coaching staff. Afterwards, the media was given the opportunity for one on one interfviews with the Arizona Rattlers. Following the Rattlers media day session, Arena Football League Commissioner Jerry Kurz spoke to the media about the state of the league. He talked about the AFL owners decision to host a neutral site ArenaBowl, discussed an Arena Football International intitiative as well as the need for a developmental league. ....
Andy Lopusnak Tuesday July 26, 2011 Guess the league lost my address with all my moves crisscrossing the country as I ve still not received a ballot for the end of the season awards and All-Arena teams like I did in 2008 and last year. Nonetheless, here s the Breaking it Down version of the AFL awards and All-Arena teams.
- Nick Davila, Arizona QB I have a sneaking suspicion that the league will give this to Aaron Garcia, but Davila was outstanding on the league s best team week-in and week-out. Davila tied the AFL single-season mark with 117 passing touchdowns, while leading the league in passer rating and having the least amount of interceptions of any player that started at least ten games. As for Garcia, he did have 18 more passing yards than Davila, but also had seven more interceptions on a team that was not as dominate as the Rattlers in 2011. ....
In no way could the road to Spokane have been better. except for if that last boot of the pigskin had a couple more yards of air under it.
The only other major sin about Tampa Bay s 63-62 victory last Saturday night in the American Conference Championship Game was that so few people actually got a chance to see it on television. I must admit that I ve been hard on the league this year for producing lousy game after lousy game, but in spite of the fact that my Preds watched their season come to a close just one kick short of the ArenaBowl, it was still one of the best five games I have ever seen (live) in the history of this league. ....
Brian Beaudry Welcome back to Spokane, Erik Meyer. The Shock scored a season-high 75 points in Meyer s AFL debut and the defense nearly doubled its season-long interception total by picking off three Ryan Vena passes in a 75-54 romp over the Philadelphia Soul. The win, coupled with Tulsa s win over Utah on Saturday, put four teams into a tie for the fourth National Conference playoff spot. It was awesome; the receivers and O-line played a heckuva game, and when you score a lot of points like this, you ve got to attribute a lot to the defense. They only gave up 54, and some of those points were off of offensive turnovers, Meyer said. ....
