Audit Service fights Domelevo for ‘preposterous’ handover notes after forced retirement Listen to article
The back and forth between the Audit Service and the immediate past Auditor General, Daniel Domelevo has continued after he was asked to present handover notes despite being out of office ahead of the eight months leading to his retirement.
Mr. Domelevo, who was forced on retirement on March 2, described the request for handover notes as “preposterous” given the circumstances.
According to correspondence sighted by Citi News, the request was made by the Audit Service Board Chairman, who wanted action within two weeks.
But in the correspondence, Mr. Domelevo noted that in June 2020, he handed over his duties to the Deputy Auditor-General, Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu.
Mr. Domelevo said the demand by the board is preposterous at best because he has been out of the position for the past 8 months.
The Audit Service Board in a letter tasked Mr. Domelevo to prepare the notes and hand it over to the acting Auditor General, Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, within two weeks.
However, Mr Domelevo stated that after handing over to Mr Akuamoah ahead of his leave in June 2020, nothing was handed over back to him when he resumed in March this year therefore he has nothing to hand over to Mr Akuamoah.
In a statement, he said: This refers to your letter dated 16th March 2021 with reference number AS8/01/Vol.1/20 on the above subject matter. Your request for a handing-over note is preposterous to me because I have been out of the office for more than eight (8)months.
