The Ekiti State Peoples Democratic Party faction loyal to Senator Biodun Olujimi on Saturday resolved to approach the Supreme Court over the ward congresses of the party which held in March 2020.
The faction, rising from a meeting in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, stated that “after extensive deliberation, considering the pros and cons, the appellate court judgment on the matter should be appealed at the Supreme Court, where it is believed that justice will be manifestly done.”
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting and signed by the state factional Publicity Secretary, Sanya Adesua, the party praised its members “for their steadfastness and belief in the eventual triumph of justice over injustice and truth over falsehood”.
63-year-old man arrested for defiling two-year-old

A 63-year-old man, Sunday Igbinokhuaihe, has been arrested by men of the Edo State Police Command for allegedly defiling a two-year-old girl.
The incident happened in Urhonigbe, in the Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was said to be a neighbour of the victim’s parents.
Igbinokhuaihe was alleged to have lured the girl into his room with a loaf of bread, after which he inserted his finger into her private parts while the girl’s mother was preparing dinner in the kitchen.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the mother noticed that something was amiss when her daughter screamed while she was bathing her later in the evening.

The Commissioner of Police for Ekiti State Command, Mr Tunde Mobayo, said on Thursday that the Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, could review the case of a Police Constable, Miss Omolola Olajide, who was dismissed after getting pregnant which allegedly violates the rules and regulations of the police.
Mobayo said Olajide violated Section 127 of the police regulation which stipulated serious punitive measures against flouters.
He said the rules and regulations require a female police officer to undergo post-training experience on the field for at least two years before marriage and three years before childbearing.
Ekiti court remands man, 29, for raping 50-year-old woman

An Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday ordered the remand of a 29-year-old man, Olaleye Jimoh, at the Correctional Centre in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly raping a 50-year-old woman.
The defendant is standing trial in the court on a count charge of raping.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court on Thursday that the defendant, who was suspected to have raped the 50-year-old woman, was arrested on January 24, 2021, at Odo-Owa Ekiti within Ikole Ekiti Magistrate District on or about January 22, 2021.
Akinwale said, “The offence is punishable under Section 358 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ekiti State 2012.”
