Amotekun probes herdsmen’s destruction of 235-hectare Ekiti maize farm

The Maize Growers Processing Marketer Association of Nigeria on Tuesday accused some herdsmen of grazing their cattle indiscriminately, thereby destroying a multi-million naira maize farm alongAdo-Ijan Road in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
MAGPAMAN Secretary in Ekiti, Mr Tope Emmanuel, lamented that the farmers sourced N60.8m from the Central Bank of Nigeria to cultivate the maize farms on about 235 hectares, adding that the projected profit was N410m.
Emmanuel, who alleged that the herders had been terrorising the farmers said, “They invaded the farm at night with weapons and fed their cows with our plant. All efforts to stop them were rebuffed.
Fayose approved my defection to APC – Ekiti ex-PDP secretary

Former Ekiti State Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party, Dr Tope Aluko, on Monday, dumped the party to join the All Progressives Congress.
Aluko, an ally of former governor Ayodele Fayose, who announced his decision at an event held at the APC Ward B Secretariat, in Irepodun/Ifelodun Council area of the state, described the APC as a blessing to his Iyin Ekiti hometown.
He said, “I can boldly say that the APC remains the only party to align with at this present time. All Tope Aluko followers are currently enlisting into APC and I am happy to be part of the moving train.

Former Secretary of Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Dr Tope Aluko, on Monday formally dumped the party for the All Progressives Congress, saying he was in the safe hands of focused leaders which the ruling party is made of.
Aluko, an ally of the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, said APC had been a blessing to his Iyin Ekiti hometown through elective and appointive positions, noting that his defection alongside his teeming supporters to the party was to add value and strengthen it for victory in the 2022 governorship and 2023 general elections.

Scientists and researchers at the Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, and the ABUAD Multi-system Hospital, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, on Thursday, said they had a breakthrough in understanding why humans were more vulnerable to infections by the new variant of COVID-19, popularly known as N501Y SARS-CoV-2 mutant.
The bio-medical scientists and researchers, led by Dr Olaposi Omotuyi, stated that “ABUAD is on the verge of bringing out an indigenous herbal product to combat the new variant in order to reduce its spread in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.”
